What is Corian® Endura™?

Corian® Endura™ is a high performance large format porcelain that can be used indoors and outside. It is one of the most durable products on the market, and delivers superior hardness, is UV stable, non-porous, and has high resistance to scratches, abrasions, high temperatures, and stains. It was developed to meet ever demanding needs of Residential and Commercial applications.

Why should I consider using Corian® Endura™?

Corian® Endura™ is highly durable—and able to stand up to wear in ways other surface materials cannot. Corian® Endura™ is made from all natural materials that are transformed into a more perfect, superior, material. Corian® Endura™ is the “showcase” centerpiece, it's beautiful, it has unique characteristics, is attention getting, and timeless in style. Perfect for your needs.

Corian® Endura™ is high performance porcelain. What is the difference between porcelain and ceramics?

Ceramics are a broad class of materials that have been used for thousands of years in many applications, including surfacing products such as tiles. There are different types of ceramic materials depending on their ingredients and processing conditions, primarily firing temperature. Porcelain is the strongest and least porous of these ceramic materials.

I have heard about other products called “sintered stone” and “ultra-compact surfaces”, what are these?

These terms are marketing descriptors used by some companies to try to differentiate their products.  From a technical perspective they are also part of the porcelain category. “Sintered stone” or “Sinterized particle technology” refers to the physical process of sintering mineral particles together, essentially compacting and forming a solid mass of material by applying heat and/or elevated pressure. That process happens during the manufacturing of all porcelains, so technically, Corian® Endura™ is also a sintered and highly compacted surface.

Why choose Corian® Endura™ over other sintered materials?

Corian® Endura™ is superior to traditional ceramics in its stain, chemical, and heat resistance.  Additionally, the raw materials used to produce Corian® Endura™ are refined and pure and the advanced manufacturing process ensures the high quality of Corian® Endura™.  The patterns along with a color matched body, also allows endless design possibilities.

You can trust Corian® Endura™ because it is made by DuPont, a 200-year-old company with a strong history of providing outstanding surfacing materials, backed by a 10 year installed (Residential) and 25 year product (Commercial and Residential) warranty.

DuPont also provides industry leading Fabrication and Technical Support and local distribution and supply.

How does Corian® Endura™ compare vs other not in-kind materials?

Corian® Endura™ has higher stain, scratch, UV and heat resistance than not-in-kind materials. Unlike granite, Corian® Endura™ never needs to be sealed, and it weighs less, which makes it lighter to transport and install.

What is Corian® Endura™ made from?

Corian® Endura™ is made from a blend of sand, clay, and feldspar and is manufactured using advanced technologies.

How is Corian® Endura™ produced?

The process to make Corian® Endura™ is similar in some ways to the process by which diamonds are naturally created, however, our advanced manufacturing technology can expedite this process. Natural raw materials are carefully selected and subjected to extreme pressure, and then extreme heat (above 1200°C).

In what formats and thicknesses is Corian® Endura™ available?

Corian® Endura™ comes in 6mm, 12mm, and 20mm thicknesses, (varies by color). Available in jumbo sized slabs: 63¨x 126¨ (1600mm x 3200mm), or a surface area of 55.1 ft². (For fabricators only: the untrimmed dimensions are 64.2" x 127.6").

Which finishes is Corian® Endura™ available in?

Corian® Endura™ is currently available in three finishes – Satin: a soft matte finish, Mineral: a lightly textured finish, and Glossy: a smooth surface with a high reflective sheen (finish varies by color).

What applications can Corian® Endura™ be used in?

Corian® Endura™ can be used in both interior and exterior applications, horizontal (countertops, vanities, coffee tables, bars), fire surrounds, and interior vertical walls (feature walls, showers, bath surrounds, backsplashes). Corian® Endura™ is perfect in both Residential and Commercial settings.

What kind of care does Corian® Endura™ need?

Homeowners do not need to seal Corian® Endura™ (unlike granite), and because it's non-porous and stain resistant, it is easy to clean.  Please see the Care and Maintenance Guide for details.

Is Corian® Endura™ scratch-resistant?

Corian® Endura™ is highly scratch resistant, cutting boards are still recommended as the porcelain surface will dull metal knives leaving metal traces. Do not use ceramic knives on your countertop. Please see the Care and Maintenance Guide for additional details.

Is Corian® Endura™ heat resistant?

Corian® Endura™ withstands high temperatures without burning or scorching. Household appliances such as Crock Pots can be used with no worry of damage. Do not place hot appliances over seams. See the Care/ Maintenance Guide for additional details.

Will the small Corian® Endura™ sample I have match with the slab once it's installed?

Samples may not represent the full aesthetic, as they are a small portion of the full slab.  Variations in finish, color, shape, background tone and pattern are inherent and unique characteristics and do not affect product performance.

What conditions and aspects are covered by the warranty?

Corian® Endura™ comes with a 10-year installed (Residential only), 25 year product only warranty (Residential), 10 year product only warranty (Commercial). Check the conditions and clauses of the warranty for additional details.

Can Corian® Endura™ be used for induction cooking?

Corian® Endura™ can withstand high temperatures, including many induction cooking systems. However, induction units can vary significantly from manufacturer to manufacturer, and there is engineering that may need to be considered to prevent failure (cracking) due to thermal shock for some systems. For these types of applications, DuPont can provide feedback on specific heating elements/appliances that you may be considering with regards to our criteria for installation and safety in order to maintain the integrity of our material.

Where can I purchase Corian® Endura™?

Corian® Endura™ is sold through authorized retailers and distributors in the US and Canada, and is fabricated and installed by certified fabricators, who undergo a rigorous training and certification process. Visit Where to Buy to find the location closest to your area.

What should I do if a sample is chipped?

Like other high performance porcelains, Corian® Endura™ is strongest once it is installed, which means that sometimes samples may chip without the underlying structure of an installed material.  If you need to replace your samples, reach out to the Authorized distributor in your area.

What certifications does Corian® Endura™ have?

GREENGUARD, GREENGUARD Gold, UL Microbial/Mold Resistance, and NSF Foodzone (20mm). Note: 20 mm Corian® Endura is NSF-51 listed for all food contact types. While thinner widths of Corian® Endura™ have the same porcelain composition, reinforcing mesh is not permitted for NSF-51 listings

What is the Fire Rating?

Corian® Endura™ is Class A fire rated.
